A Brief History of BIMS

Barani Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS) strives to provide an intellectual and dynamic environment for creating an exemplary institution to provide quality education. Barani Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS) is joint venture institute of Pir Mehr Ali Shah, Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi. BIMS established in 2013 with the aim of providing a high-quality education to our students in fields of Management Science, Computer Science, Social Sciences etc

From the first enrolled students to a decade of graduates — the milestones that shaped Barani Institute of Management Sciences.

2013

BIMS Is Established

The Barani Institute of Management Sciences opens its doors in Rawalpindi under a joint venture arrangement with PMAS Arid Agriculture University. The institute is founded to deliver industry-relevant undergraduate education in management sciences, computer science, and allied disciplines within a rigorous university framework.

2013

First Students Enrolled

BIMS welcomes its inaugural cohort of students into undergraduate programs. Classrooms, laboratories, and student support services are put in place to build the academic culture that would define the institute in the years ahead.

2015

Academic Portfolio Expands

New programs are introduced across business administration, computer science, software engineering, commerce, economics, sociology, and related fields — broadening access for students seeking careers in management, technology, and the social sciences.

2017

First Batch Graduates

BIMS holds its first convocation, awarding degrees to the pioneer graduating class. The ceremony marks a defining moment for the institute — proof that the founding vision of quality, merit-based education had taken root and produced its first alumni ready to enter professional life.

2018

Institute Goes Digital

BIMS digitizes its operations with the launch of online student and administrative portals. Admissions, academic records, fee information, and campus updates move onto digital platforms — giving students and staff faster access to services and marking a major step toward a connected, paper-light institute.

2019

Campus Life and Student Societies Flourish

Student-led societies such as the Highly Advanced Gaming Society (HAGS) and the Scientific Programming and Robotics Society (SPRS) take shape, organising seminars, competitions, workshops, and inter-university events that complement classroom learning.

2020

Teaching Continues Through Challenging Times

During the COVID-19 pandemic, BIMS adapts quickly — maintaining academic continuity through online classes, digital assignments, and remote student support so that learning and assessment standards are preserved.

2021

Scholarships and Industry Linkages

The institute strengthens its scholarship offerings — including support through the Qalam Foundation — and builds partnerships with industry for internships and practical training, helping students gain real-world experience alongside their degrees.

2023

A Decade of BIMS

BIMS completes ten years of service to students and the community. The milestone is celebrated as a testament to sustained academic effort, growing alumni networks, and the institute's enduring partnership with Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi.

2025

NCEAC Accreditation

BIMS receives accreditation from the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) — Pakistan's national body for quality assurance in computing education. The recognition confirms that the institute's computer science and IT-related programs meet established national standards for curriculum, faculty, laboratories, and graduate outcomes.
