1. Social networking websites, like MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln, Google etc., are services people can use to connect with others to share information like photos, videos, and personal messages. As the popularity of these social sites grows, so do the risks of using them. Hackers, spammers, virus writers, identity thieves, and other criminals follow the traffic.
2. As such the Institute has no objection if the students like to use any form of the social media in any way; however, when it comes to conversing any issue related to the Institute by any means, the Institute has a concern and would like all students to adhere to the ethical code as described in this document. The rules are formulated to give appropriate freedom to all who would like to use the social media yet protecting the rights of the others. Following instructions shall be binding on all students/personnel while conversing on any kind of social media for any issue related to the Institute in any way:
a. For any sort of communication and coordination through any social media, student or a group of students, are mandatorily required, to register their pages in the Front Office of the Institute on the prescribed registration forms.
b. Admins of all existing pages are required to register their pages with the Front Office.
c. Students are allowed to like only those pages which are registered with the Institute and those pages will be intimated on the Institute website/pages.
d. Designing any unauthorized page or supportive campaign administrated by any student through any source of social media regarding any issue of the Institute is prohibited.
e. Derogatory speeches, words containing threat, pornographic material, pictures, humiliation or inciting violence activities at individual or group level are banned /condemned and would be strongly handled.
f. Posting, Liking, replying, commenting and sharing any violent, fake institutional event, alcohol, dating or other immature contents are banned.
g. Participation (directly or indirectly) in any organization, federation or any platform what so ever (political, religious etc) which is not approved by BIMS while using any kind of social media.
h. Students are strictly not allowed to use Facebook to do anything unlawful, misleading* malicious, or discriminatory towards fellow students or faculty/staff.
i. If a student knows about the creator of any fake ID/Page or observes violation of the Cyber rules by any one, he is bound to immediately inform to the Institute Management so that appropriate corrective measures could be taken. The name of such student would be kept secret along with reasonable incentive given to him. Students are encouraged to come forward and join hands with the management to find those disturbing elements.
j. Students proven beyond the defined limits will be dealt and treated with heavy fines following expulsion and termination from institute by Disciplinary Committee.
